An empathetic guide to recovering your creative soul.
Combining heartfelt personal stories with inspirational and practical insights, Mark Pierce demonstrates how we can overcome artistic anxiety, find renewed creative courage, and produce meaningful work that matters.
“Simple, powerful, and works like pure magic. I haven’t read a book that shook me up this much since The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. The Creative Wound Heal Your Broken Art is a must-read—and an essential tool—for creative people across the globe.â€
– Lauren Sapala, author of Firefly Magic and The INFJ Writer
As an artist, you put your heart into what you do. It’s the seat of all your work. But if your creative heart breaks, you lose all expressive power. Deep down, you know if this damage would only heal then freedom of movement would return and you’d discover all that you are truly capable of.
But how?
This book explains
* Why your gift is desperately needed, especially as technology advances.
* What understanding your story will reveal to your future creative self.
* How to find inspiration when you’re just not feeling it.
* When daydreaming is your best productivity option.
* How to own your own creativity and stop waiting for a big break.
* The power of curiosity in living a truly creative life.
* Effective ways to change course and find your true creative path.
And that's just for starters...
Praise for THE CREATIVE WOUND
“A soothing balm for your creative battle scars, this is a book for anyone who feels they have more to bring to the world but suffer doubt, feel ashamed, or wildly over-think their creativity. It gently equips you to direct your life’s art with purpose and perspective, rather than allowing the pain to write for you. Happy healing!â€
– Andy Mort, musician, writer, and creator of The Gentle Rebel Podcast
The Creative Wound is a book that will help you take that vital look inside, and offers great wisdom and practical tips toward rebuilding your creative foundations in a stronger, more positive way.â€
– Rick Jesse, Dogtooth brand experience design

"I am a creativity book junkie, but I have to admit that most of the books in the creativity and self-help genre don’t really have what I’m looking for. It’s only very rarely that a book comes along that gives me the three things I need to actually get inspired:
An acknowledgment of the emotional reasons behind my creative block (rather than just suggesting I learn better time management skills).
A willingness to take into account that people have all different types of learning/creating styles (I’m an intuitive big-picture thinker, for example, which means pressure and rushing things don’t work for me).
That unmistakable feeling that the author honestly does believe change is possible, and even if I’ve never created anything before in my life, it is still likely I can do so (I NEED this positive outlook when I’m in any sort of creative slump or I’m only going to stay stuck).
The Creative Wound checked the box on my three must-have’s and also gave me so much more. This book made me feel that I’m not alone in having childhood experiences that profoundly affected my self-esteem as a creative being, and that I still carry baggage around today. It also made me feel that it’s okay if I still have trouble from time to time when those things crop up for me.
Maybe most importantly though, this book made me see that my relationship with my own creativity is exactly that: a RELATIONSHIP. It’s not some machine I possess that needs to turn out work faster or more efficiently. It’s a living, breathing, fluid, messy, dynamic energy in my life that falls in and out of balance just as I fall in and out of balance, and I always have the power to bring my creativity—like myself—back into balance.
I loved, loved, LOVED this book. I highly recommend it to all writers, artists, musicians, designers, ANYONE who knows they are creative and even all those who think they AREN’T creative, but have always felt a pull in that direction. This is such a positive, life-giving book. Totally impressed. Utterly awed."

This is such a positive, life-giving book. Totally impressed. Utterly awed. - This book encouraged me to value my own creativity on a new level and to not let my heart or potential slip through the cracks. It offered fresh perspectives and practical ideas to get creativity flowing again from where its gotten stuck both in the heart and in day-to-day challenges. I found it super relatable and timely. Even before I finished the book I started retelling some of the stories and implementing some of the ideas to get my own creativity flowing and process my own heart and stories in a new way. Highly recommend it!
