Ebook Experiments with Alternate Currents of High Potential and High Frequency Nikola Tesla 9781514762929 Books
Experiments with Alternate Currents of High Potential and High Frequency is a classic physics essay by Nikola Tesla. This investigation, then, it goes without saying, deals with alternating currents, and, to be more precise, with alternating currents of high potential and high frequency. Just in how much a very high frequency is essential for the production of the results presented is a question which even with my present experience, would embarrass me to answer.

"This was an interesting book, which discussed many of his experiments in his words. The one downside to reading it on my Kindle was the missing Figures from his lecture. I am assuming that a paper copy would contain the Figures, but maybe not. He refers to the Figures regularly throughout the lecture (book), and it was difficult to envision some of his experiments without them. The book was still well worth reading, especially if you are already familiar with some of his experiments."

- The problem with reading older technical texts, especially from presentations, given pre-1930's is, the language is very flowery, unnecessarily complex, and overly filled with descriptive adjectives! Other than that, it's simply difficult to try and discern what the author is actually trying to say, over the top of how "Fantastically", "Superlative", their original claims are of being "Scientifically", "Unbelievably", and 'Uniquely", original!
It seem though, after reading the text for 20 to 30 minutes50 years , one can simply ignore the overly fantastic claims, to glean an adequate understanding of what, hopefully, they mean to convey. If you can read your way past the presumption, you actually might come away with a good understanding of what Mr. Tesla was attempting to tell his New York audience! It's all very interesting and almost too good to be true, if it wasn't already recorded in the history book, about 50 years before anyone listening to him would be able to understand what he was saying!!!
And that, unfortunately seems to be Mr. Tesla's undoing! - First just let me say that Nikola Tesla is so under-rated in US history. He deserved to be in the history books and as well known as his competitor Thomas Edison. That said, this was a pretty interesting book. It is taken from his lectures, so we have his thoughts as he was presenting.
It would have been more enjoyable if the diagrams that Tesla presented were included, but, sadly, they were not. I am not a scientist nor a brainiac on Tesla's level, so some of the things lost me -- and I found myself skipping over some of the details. Even with that deficit, it was highly enjoyable to read. There were some parts where you could just feel his excitement about future possibilities and even what he had already learned about ac/dc. I have to admit that I learned a lot also.
My bottom line is that my rating would have been 5 stars if it would have included those diagrams. Don't let that keep you away. It is always interesting to peer into someone else's mind! - I am interested in everything Tesla! This book is a transcript of his talk at a conference. Not an easy read but very interesting.

- Tesla, a genius, inventor, and a man ahead of his time. This book is a lecture given in London England before a very learned group of people. In it Tesla explains his theories, and why he has done certain things. The writing/speaking style is slow and methodical. Tesla is very humble, but that belies his genius as an inventor and thinker. The reading at times plods along yet once read one can glean much about the man and his theories. I would recommend it to any wanting to learn more about Tesla.
- Tesla was part of a group visionaries who looked into this world through a a different looking glass. An eccentric genius who asked questions, and found answers to many of them. His life was in many ways inspired by his times. In this work he explains his works on AC to an esteemed group of men. All the while showing deference to their station. By our standards the read is slow and plodding, but once read the book gives a small picture of a great man. I look forward to reading more works by him.
- An amazing scientist/entrepreneur. Others take credit for many of his ideas because it was the idea he was interested in developing and not the money to be made from it.
- Some diagrams and information from a lecture given by Tesla. Explains electromagnetic phenomenon experienced by Tesla while experimenting with High currents and high potentials. Some of the experiments can be re done by a home experimenter. there are also old schematics to follow.
